A New Dish

Ok, guys, i know i promised you that we would be doing an improvised work entitled "what's cooking?" for the end of this year but i am getting information and also facing circumstances that this will probably not happen. first thing, i am told that kamalesh may not have the time - he is starting work during the holidays - to be with us... and you know how i feel about that, he not being able to spend time with us on this. then quite a few of you are going to india with shankar anna on the yuva yatra. but.

but, not to be sad, a window closes, another opens up. in january, there will a wedding, and auntie thavam, whose daughter malini is getting married, has very kindly invited us, all of us, to perform anything we would like to perform for the wedding dinner. can you imagine that? hey, for the first time, the pancatantra has been asked to perform.

so, the new dish we are cooking up, with the short amount of time given to us, in fact, consists of a starter, a main meal, and dessert. three short plays: the story of savitri, the wedding of hari and manju (a spoof on romeo and juliet), and a scene from the taming of the shrew.

i have written the scripts and hope to get you guys together to look at them. in the savitri story, we will need two actors - one male and one female. in the wedding of hari and manju, we need four actors - two female and two male. in the shrew, also four actors - two female, two male.

to do this, i am banking on your past experience in drama, to quickly suss out the characters and start improvising when we meet up in the next few weeks.

it will be very exciting. the dinner theatre will have an audience of at least two hundred guests. so, here's another chance for you to be somebody else!!!

the fun thing about drama

what we have done so far in the last few months or maybe the last year has been a really fun and exciting experience.....i mean acting in different shakespearean plays like the merchant, the moneylender and the mistress, different scenes of the ramayana, the midsummer nights dream and many others, please forgive me if i can't remember any other plays we did...not so good memory one lah, hahaha...anyway acting with my good friends has also made drama a fun.....whatever u call it. other than bharathanatyam and odissi, drama has taught me different aspects of acting or in my opinion, what goes on in a person's life. i have understood many things and why we should adapt it in our lives, well maybe because it can help us understand our lives in detail, why we go through sadness, sorrow, happiness, anger and how we can take control of these feelings. i still can't forget the day when we were exploring the CORE OF OUR CHARACTER....hahaha, oh memories do burn calories... well i remember myself talking about my lover, well in the play of course, jessica lah!!!! and how i cried after that...it felt new to me because i had never stimulated myself to cry, honestly, and of course i couldn't control myself......so i learnt a lot of things in drama, thanks to the help of the director, Mr. Lam Ghooi Ket, and my mother, and my good friends...haha special also can say lah....
